Bo Nau Cave: A Guide To The "Pelican" Cave

Bo Nau Cave: A Guide To The "Pelican" Cave

Bo Nau Cave, or “Pelican Cave”, lies 13 km away from Bai Chay Tourist Wharf, in the southwest of Halong Bay. It is called Pelican Cave as, in the past, the cave was home to a squadron of pelicans, “Bo Nau” sounds the same as the Vietnamese word for the pelican, “bo nong”.

The entrance of Bo Nau cave is wide and decorated with hanging stalactites, making it look like the mouth of a kind of beast. The interior of the cave has an area of around 200m² and is quite flat aside from the various stalactites and stalagmites.

Arguably the best thing about Bo Nau cave is the view it gives visitors of Halong Bay. The magnificent scenery is framed by the mouth of the cave and gives visitors a great impression of the majesty of Halong Bay. It’s the view that just keeps giving!
